The third project for the digital materials course focused on learning a new software which was Autodesk’s Mudbox. Having used Zbrush in the past, this program was very familiar to me but is more efficient to use when working in Maya. The assignment was to take a Mudbox character model and make it more complex using tools such as the sculpt and paint tool. My raptor features a displacement map for the muscles, spikes, and scales. The color layer was created using the ramp method of layering lighter colors over darker layers at lower opacities to create different values. The specular layer is to help define areas that may be rougher than others on a complex object.
